Effective grievance redress mechanism key to solving people problems : Lal Singh | KNO

JAMMU APRIL 04 (KNO) : Asserting that the public grievances redressal mechanism put in place by the present government has been working very well and helping in solving problems of people and streamlining delivery of various utility services, Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today said that the complaints registered are examined at appropriate levels for disposal and even in certain cases on-the- spot decisions are taken.

“The public outreach mechanism is also pivotal for enforcing accountability in the administration”, he added. While interacting with people who came with their grievances in general and related to the departments under his charge in particular during the public grievance redressal camp held, here today, Lal Singh issued on the spot instructions for their redressal and in certain cases sought reports from the officers of different wings, who were present during the public outreach session.

The Minister examined the complaints projected by the people, who came from various areas of the region. He assured that these will be earnestly disposed off after proper redressed by the concerned departments. He exhorted upon the officers to let his office know about the action taken in a time bound manner. Lal Singh said the government is committed to responsive administration that takes care of the urges and aspirations of the people. “The present government is working towards mitigating the problems of the people and undertaking holistic development of all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir”, the Minister asserted. While dwelling upon the measures taken with regard to Afforestation to ensure ecological balance, Lal Singh sought public cooperation in marking various programmes in this regard a success.

He asked the officers to generate awareness among the people about various programmes and ensure that their benefits accrue to them as well. Among others, Chairman Pollution Control Board B Sidhartha, Managing Director SFC Suresh Gupta, Chief Wild Life Warden Manoj Pant, Director FPF Asif Mehmod and Chief Conservator of Forests SFA Gilani besides officers of various departments and DFOs of Jammu were present during the public grievance redressal camp.(KNO)
